Medical Disclaimer
Please read this before relying on anything on bostonlimb.com. It explains what the website's content is, what it is not, and when to seek emergency care.
1. General information only
Everything on bostonlimb.com, including the articles on the blog, is general information about diabetic foot ulcers, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, nerve testing and related care. It is written for adults in India and their families, and it is not a substitute for a consultation or teleconsultation with a qualified doctor who has examined you and knows your history.
2. No diagnosis through the website
Nothing on the website diagnoses any condition in any person. Descriptions of symptoms are there to help you decide whether to seek an assessment, not to tell you what you have. Only a clinician who has examined you can do that.
3. No guarantee of outcome
Assessment and treatment depend on clinical evaluation of each person. Healing of a foot wound, relief of nerve symptoms and the course of neuropathy depend on circulation, infection, pressure, blood sugar, kidney function, other illnesses and the person's own circumstances. No outcome, improvement, healing rate or timeline is promised or guaranteed, and nothing on the website should be read as a claim to cure, reverse or permanently treat any condition.
4. Nerve conduction testing
DPNCheck is a US FDA-cleared point-of-care device that measures one nerve, the sural nerve, at the ankle. Its result is one piece of information that the consultant reads alongside the examination, the history and other tests. On its own it neither confirms nor rules out neuropathy, and it does not identify the cause of nerve damage. It is provided only as part of a clinical assessment and is never offered as a free or stand-alone screening.
5. What the clinic does and does not do
Boston Limb assesses and treats diabetic foot wounds, nerve symptoms and the diabetes and kidney factors behind them, and coordinates care with specialist hospitals when a blocked artery, deep infection or surgery needs their attention. Surgical and vascular procedures are not performed on site. The doctors named on the website hold the qualifications listed beside their names. The International Medical Advisors act in an advisory capacity only and do not provide direct patient consultations at the centre.
6. Emergencies
A foot wound with fever, spreading redness or swelling, a foul smell, a foot that has turned cold, pale or dark, or feeling generally unwell is an emergency. Go to the nearest hospital emergency department; do not wait for an appointment or a call back.
7. Medicines and self-care
Do not start, stop or change any medicine, dressing or foot-care routine on the basis of the website. Discuss changes with the doctor who treats you.
8. Reviewing the content
The content is written by the Boston Limb care team and reflects generally accepted clinical understanding at the time of writing. It may not reflect the most recent research, and it may be updated without notice.
